Bangladesh has been recently hit by one of the worsts cyclones in its history - Cyclone Sidr. So far official estimates stand at over 3,000 lost lives. Aid agencies expect it to go as high as 10,000. And several thousands are still missing.
An estimated 280,000 others are unable to return to their homes which were wiped away by the storm. There is a severe shortage of food, clean drinking water, warm clothes, and medicines.
Bongobandhu Memorial Foundation of USA is a 501(c)(3) charity organization registered (Reg # 56-2403796) in the United States. The Foundation, in collaboration with Shuchinta Foundation in Dhaka, Bangladesh, already has volunteers on the ground who will be distributing aid at the camps that been setup for the affected in the Southern coast of Bangladesh.
